The start of a new year means resolutions, and many of these resolutions involve going green. If you are looking to become a little more environmentally friendly this upcoming year, be sure to follow these tips on how to go green for the New Year.
Use reusable bags.
Grocery shopping can often result in a pileup of plastic bags or paper bags. While one trip to the grocery store won’t result in too many of these bags, weekly trips will result in a huge collection of plastic or paper over time. Instead, consider bringing your own reusable bags with you to the grocery store.
Fix leaky faucets.
If you have a faucet that is constantly dripping throughout the day and night, this can result in a lot of water wasted. Be sure you conserve more water by having these leaky faucets fixed.
Unplug at night.
If you have a ton of electronic devices plugged into your outlets at night, they can quickly become energy hogs, not only increasing your monthly electric bill, but also resulting in more wasted energy. Consider unplugging the devices you aren’t using when you are sleeping to save energy.
Another way to go green in the New Year is by buying an efficient vehicle here at Bradshaw Cadillac.
Although the South doesn’t usually see snow or ice, it is still a good idea to put together an emergency kit for winter driving. If you are in an accident or your car breaks down in chilly weather, the following items will come in handy.
Think about chilly weather
Pack some gloves and a hat just in case you need to make a long walk on a cold day. It’s a good idea to keep a blanket in your car as well in case you get stuck in the vehicle overnight. Add a phone charger, some energy bars and a jug of water, too. First aid supplies are a must for any emergency kit.
Pack the right tools
You never know when you will need a tool, so keeping a multi-purpose tool and some wrenches in your car are good ideas. Put them in a duffle bag in the trunk along with some jumper cables, a flashlight and a tow strap. A small fire extinguisher is a smart addition, too.
In case of a flat tire, keep a can of aerosol flat fixer in your trunk as well as an air compressor to re-inflate the tire. Add the number of your road service provider in your phone contacts and also write it down and stash it in the glove compartment along with a pen and note pad just in case your phone goes dead.
Make sure your car is up for the demands of winter driving by scheduling a maintenance check at Bradshaw Cadillac.
Cadillac plans to roll out its first dedicated electric vehicle in 2022 with many more to follow. The EV from Cadillac is expected to enable the automaker to hold its position at the top of the luxury vehicle market with new electric models.
The future is getting closer.
Cadillac plans to introduce a new vehicle model twice a year until 2021, and many are likely to be electric from that point on. The automaker provided a sneak peek of plans for an electric crossover at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit when it showcased the Cadillac XT6. Unfortunately, the automaker did not supply a prototype of the mysterious Cadillac EV at the auto show. The dedicated Cadillac EV is suspected to compete with the Audi e-Tron and Tesla Model X in the luxury electric vehicle category.
Exclusive Cadillac Battery.
Cadillac is developing its own battery platform known as BEV3, or Battery Electric Vehicle 3. The three stands for the third generation of the system. The new battery is expected to be used in front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive vehicles. Cadillac is expected to roll out an electric version of the Cadillac Escalade with the ability to drive 400 miles on a charge.* Cadillac is planning for the blossoming future of electronic vehicles and intends to lead the luxury market.

We all want our kids to be safe throughout the school year. Check out the following driving safety tips for ways you can contribute to student safety on the road.
Stay safe at drop-off
Lots of parents drop off their students at school, but parking lots can still be a dangerous place. Make sure you park at the curb and don’t make your passengers cross in front of vehicles to get to the school. It’s also a good idea to start a neighborhood carpool to reduce the amount of cars in the parking lot.
Watch out for pedestrians and cyclists
Many students walk to school. As you drive to the school building, especially as you get closer, take care to make sure you aren’t blocking crosswalks at intersections. Watch out for crossing guards, yield to pedestrians and go the speed limit. If you see a vehicle stopping for pedestrians, do not pass them. Also, ensure you are being cautious of students on bicycles and giving wide berth to cyclists on the road.
Getting stuck behind a school bus can be frustrating, but take care that you are obeying traffic laws. If the bus is stopped to load or unload passengers, always stop and don’t go around it. Keep in mind the area 10 feet around the school bus is most dangerous for students so give the bus plenty of space.
Make sure your car is ready for the new school year by scheduling a maintenance check at Bradshaw Cadillac.
Today, you depend on you vehicle for so much more than simply getting from point A to point B. Especially on road trips, you need your vehicle to be a mobile information hub that connects you to the world around you. When planning your next big road trip, remember the following road trip tech tips for staying connected no matter where you are.
Get unlimited data.
For day-to-day usage, unlimited data plans are often unnecessary, since it is very likely that you will have access to Wi-Fi at various times throughout your day. Once on a road trip, though, Wi-Fi access is much less common. Having unlimited data will allow you to not worry about going over your data limit and will come in handy when combating boredom or navigating a new route.
Navigation apps are incredibly useful when traveling, unless you’re out of network range. However, downloading maps on Google maps before you even set off is an easy workaround to this problem. When you search for a specific area, simply click on “more” and then download the desired map.
Use a multi-port charger.
Especially if you’re traveling with several friends or with the whole family, it’s important to bring along a multi-port charger. This will enable everyone to charge their cellphones or devices at once.

The Cadillac brand is changing things up, offering a wide variety of changes for the 2020 model year. The new CT5 will be taking the place of both the ATS and CTS sedans. Three-row seating will be featured in the new XT6, and the XT5 will sport a revamped XT5 design. New features will define the Escalade and CT6-V.
According to AutoWise writer Nikola Potrebić, the new CT5 will likely have a 2.0-liter turbocharged powertrain, which generates 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 CT5 will be slightly larger than the compact ATS it is replacing, offering plenty of space to keep you comfortable.
The 2020 XT6 will comes with three-row seating, which is the first Cadillac SUV to do so other than the Escalade. The midsize XT6 combines space and efficiency, and features include a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Cadillac is also working on a hybrid version of the XT6, though it’s not clear when it will be released.
The 2020 CT6-V features an all-new design, including a tuned suspension and steering, an all-new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 and a 10-speed transmission. This model is expected to get up to 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque.
We at Bradshaw Cadillac can’t wait to see the 2020 Cadillac model lineup. Until then, stop in to get a closer look at our current selection of incredible Cadillac vehicles.
The Cadillac XT5 is back for the 2020 model year and is ready to impress. The XT5 keeps its impressive styling and technology for the 2020 year, and there’s plenty of possible enhancements to be excited about. Check out what we think will make the 2020 Cadillac XT5 a standout.
While performance changes aren’t solidified, Auto Blog surmises that we’ll probably see the same powerful V6 engine that was under the hood of the 2019 XT5. This 3.6-liter engine delivers an impressive 310 horsepower. While the 2020 XT5 might sport its current eight-speed transmission, it’s possible that it might receive an all-new nine-speed transmission, like the one found in the new Cadillac XT6. It’s also possible that we’ll see a new turbocharged engine option.
The intelligent Cadillac Infotainment System will be back for the 2020 year, and will sport a new rotary controller. There’s also a physical volume knob and buttons instead of just touchscreen control, making it easier to operate than before.
Another new interior feature is a disabling switch for the Auto Stop/Start. This presents the advantage of being able to turn off the Auto Start/Stop feature when you don’t need it.
Aside from these updates, the Cadillac XT5 will still sport the sleek and stylish look you love, complete with sharp body lines and the same capable headlamps and taillamps. Until the 2020 model is available, check out the 2019 Cadillac XT5 at Bradshaw Cadillac.

Cadillac even serendipitously joined the winners of Best Picture for 2019, Green Book. The five-Oscar-winning movie is set in a 1962 Cadillac DeVille in which stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali travel across the segregated South.
